Syria is one of the historical birthplaces of olive cultivation. The groves here are old, the knowledge is deep, and the oils they produce have a character that is immediately distinct from anything coming out of southern Europe. This is what MAKNOON bottles in its Syrian extra virgin olive oil: a pale gold, early-harvest oil that captures a clean, green expression of a landscape that has been growing olives for thousands of years.

What this oil tastes like

The color tells you something before you even taste it. Pale gold rather than deep green, reflecting the freshness of the olives at pressing and the particular character of Syrian early-harvest production. On the palate it opens with green, herbaceous notes and a gentle bitterness, followed by a subtle hint of artichoke that adds depth without weight. The texture is light yet structured, making it an oil that enhances without overwhelming.

This is not an oil that announces itself with intensity. It brings clarity and brightness, lifting the ingredients around it rather than competing with them.

How to use it

It shines in fresh, simple preparations where its character has room to express itself. Pour it generously over cucumber salad or fattoush. Drizzle it onto warm bread with za’atar. Spoon it over hummus or labneh where its herbaceous notes lift and balance the richness of the dish. It also folds beautifully into dips, or can be enjoyed in its simplest form with olives and a pinch of salt.

It works equally well with Emirati dishes. Drizzle it over harees or machboos, add it as a finishing touch to marag or soups, or use it in marinades and dressings where its light structure lets the other flavors come through clearly.

About MAKNOON

MAKNOON was founded by Hanan Wehbi as a luxury brand dedicated to the olive oil traditions of the Levant. The name comes from the Arabic for “cherished” and “well preserved,” and that philosophy shapes everything from sourcing to presentation. MAKNOON works directly with farming communities across Syria, Palestine, and Lebanon, supporting the people who have kept these traditions alive across generations.

Each bottle is cold-pressed and produced through a sustainable process that prioritizes quality over volume. The gift box presentation makes it as suitable for gifting as it is for everyday use.

Available in the UAE with direct delivery from the brand.
